Pinon Hills is a lovely, desert community located off of route 138 in southern California. This small but growing community sits within the plains of the Mojave Desert and is bordered by the exquisite San Gabriel Mountains. The locals like to say, This is where the desert meets the mountains. I would have to concur with their observation.
At the beginning of the 20th century, water played a major role in the growth of Pinon Hills and its nearby neighbor city, Phelan. These two agricultural cities were situated along a stagecoach route between Los Angeles and San Bernardino. This factor made them great resting areas and allowed their respective populations to grow.

Today, the small community of Pinon Hills is home to many sports and outdoor enthusiasts. Sports like camping, hiking, skiing, gliding and other great outdoor activities occupy locals and tourists alike. Residents of the community not only enjoy outdoor activities but also all four weather seasons, clean crisp air, and beautiful views of the mountains.
Since the community is so small and quaint, many people have bought land there to retire. This area is a great destination for those corporate types who are finally hanging it up and looking to take it easy. Many of the homes that are being built are very large and spread out, giving abundant privacy and seclusion. The Pinon Hills area is sure to be a consideration for many, and discussing any possible relocations with a local real estate agent is a good idea.
